Our Mindset
Over the last decade or so the cost of a new computer has fallen dramatically. Gone are the days when we would expect to be spending between 8 or 9 hundred pounds for even the most basic system. These days, we would expect to be paying around £350! Fantastic, right? Well, yes and no.
If you’re after a low-cost, short-term investment for generic usage, then great. Pop down to your local PC W***d and grab yourself a bargain. You can even pick-up a refurbished unit that’s often only a few months old, and not surprisingly, there’s always plenty in-stock. You’d be amazed at how many units are returned within 6-12 months of purchase!
On the other hand, if you’re looking to invest in a new computer, whether for generic use, work or even that all singing, all dancing gaming rig you’ve always wanted, you won’t find it on a shelf at PC W***d. What you need is a bespoke system that’s built to purpose and based on top-quality branded hardware from the industries leading and most-trusted manufacturers...
Why Buy Bespoke?
One of the key differences between off-the-shelf and bespoke systems is the choice of hardware (or build quality). You won’t find any bizzare, non-standard components in a bespoke base-unit; parts that are only made by a particular vendor for a particular model and often cost ludicrous amounts of money to replace.
Investing in a (bespoke) computer that’s built with quality, branded components almost always results in greater performance and overall reliability. Subtle differences like lower latency memory, improved thermal reduction and developed software configuration all
contriubte to a more satisfying computer experience.
Doesn’t sound like we’re very impartial does it? Well, don’t just take our word for it. Ask ANY IT professional whether he/she would recommend off-the-shelf over bespoke. The answer will almost ALWAYS be NO - and with good reason.
Why Buy Pre-Built?
More and more people are discovering the potentially huge savings to be made by building their own systems. Compared to ten or fifteen years ago, when clock speeds, bus speeds and IRQ’s all required careful and precise configuration, things have become a whole lot easier. Anyone can do it, so why buy built?
The fact is, we charge our customers between £50 and £100 (depending on the complexity/additional requirements of the build), to spec, build, benchmark and warranty a system. Choosing the right components and configuring them for the best possible experience can be a real headache. Diagnosing faulty hardware, sending parts back to manufacturers and re-building or re-installing can be both time consuming and painfully frustrating.
That’s where we come in. We’ll spec, build, configure and thoroughly benchmark your system, so you don’t have to. In fact, all you need to do is turn it on and enjoy.
All base-units include a standard 1 year hardware warranty, so if you run into problems, don’t panic. We’ve got you covered - and becuase we’re local, there’s no need to waste time with call centres or the inconvenience of having your computer shipped-off 200 miles aways to be repaired. Just drop-in and leave it to us...
So, why not call-in and discuss your requirements with one of our technicians or choose from our range of pre-configured base-units.
